The Star Wars franchise has brought different possessions and goods for fans like enticing television shows, memorabilia, gifts, and movies.
Star Wars last movie, Star Wars: Force Awakens, brought a resurgence to the franchise, but with new movie Rogue One in theaters it only proves how great of franchise Star Wars is stil becoming.
Rogue One’s storyline takes place in the time between Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith where Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, and Star Wars: A New Hope where it began the resurgence of the rebellion.
Rogue One was the codename for the rebellion squadron who fought against the dreaded Empire trying to find the plans for the new Death Star. Little did the Empire know, the rebel alliance was built on hope.
This head spinner of a movie starts off with a little girl named Jyn Erso, whose father Galyn Erso, is the head engineer who invented the Death Star. After her father is forced onto a ship by Imperial Director Orson Krennic, he is forced to give the plans to the Empire. But there was a catch.
The movie takes the viewer through a series of different events that surprised the Growl. It turns out, in this case, the term ‘Spoiler Alert: Everyone dies’ actually fits.
Rogue One’s victory would shortly last with the whole squadron and the Imperial forces on the planet disintegrating by the hands of the Death Star.
Jyn and Captain Cassian are able to send plans to the rebel alliance where it was then shared to Princess Leia which leads to the events in Star Wars: A New Hope.
Director of Rogue One, Gareth Edwards, brought a new way of directing to the Star Wars franchise. The movie was slow, and yet enticing enough to keep the audience intrigued and on the edge of their seats awaiting the character’s next move.
Edwards did bring key faces into the film. He brought the two mongrels that Obi Wan Kenobi murdered with his lightsaber in the Mos Eisley Cantina, some of the rebel pilots that died in the attack on the Death Star in Episode 4, and Grand Moff Tarkin who followed Darth Vader around on the Death Star and watched his every move.
Edwards also brought in a new droid called K-2, a blind man named Chirrut Imwe played by Donnie Yen, and Baze Malbus played by Jiang Wen.
The only strong criticism that could go against the movie was the acting. The casting was good, but the reactions and the expressions given by the actors were either corny or just not compelling enough to attach to the emotions of the characters.
But unlike the previous Star Wars movie that Disney had released, we feel like this one had a certain take that made it feel like it actually belonged in the movie series. This wasn’t about Jedi or the force, this was about hope and the battle for the sake of the galaxy.
