Clovis High is having its 2017 academic awards on March 13 to honor the students who have earned high academic achievements. The different awards that will be handed out are: Principal’s Honor, Block C, AP Scholar, and Department awards.
This year there are 549 recipients compared to last year’s 400. Although there is a large rise in the number of qualified students, there is a significant decrease in the amount of AP scholars. There are 15 this year compared to to the 44 students Clovis High had last year. Here are the qualifications of being an AP scholar:
- AP Scholar: granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
- AP Scholar with Honor: granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and score of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
- AP Scholar with Distinction: granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
