Clovis High School competed in the 2017 annual Drama Festival at Clovis North in a variety of performances on February 23. Several high schools from around the Central Valley  come to compete once a year in a variety of categories. Students come with monologues, scenes, and musical numbers prepared to present to a panel of judges and compete against other schools. The Cougar theater department always comes to the festival greatly prepared and with high expectations. This year, they took home the win in four different categories. These were:

Improv Category: Schools create an improv team who come and compete in different improv games in front of a panel of judges and the judges decide which team performed the best scenes that were completely improvised on the spot.

Winner:  Cougar improv team

Contrasting Monologues: William Shakespeare’s  Much Ado About Nothing and Shadow Box by Michael Cristofer

Winner: Senior Jordan Fernandez

Small Musical Number: “I Gotta Crow” from Peter Pan

Winner: Junior Annie Butchert and sophomore Bri Avina

Large Musical Number: “Ugga Wug” from Peter Pan

Winner: Clovis High School’s cast of Peter Pan
