Behr paint announced for the first time in their history what they predict to be the color of the year, a green-blue color called “In the Moment.”

The more recognized brand around the world, Pantone, announced the 2018 color of the year to be a vivid purple called ultra violet.

Pantone was started in 1963 by Lawrence Herbert when he created a way to identify, match and communicate the consistency of colors throughout the textile industries.

The Pantone Matching System was born from this process.

Yet, the Pantone company is mostly known for their Color Institute. This part of the company makes the prediction of what color will be shown everywhere for the next year as they have been doing since 2000.

According to the Pantone website, the Color Institute predicts global trends in color and informs companies so they can use the color as an asset in “brand identity and product development.”

They are recognized around the world and pair with global brands to use the color in design strategies.

Many Clovis High students and teachers do not realize there is a color of the year.

In the past, Behr has produced a 20 color palette of color trends for the year. 2018 however they accompanied their palette with the color of the year – included in the palette. This greenish-blue shade follows the 2017 Pantone color of the year, Greenery.
