The #1 Cougars will host the winner of #9 Hanford West and #8 Central in the second round of the playoffs this Friday.

The reigning Valley Champion CHS Softball team won all 10 of its Tri-River Athletic Conference games, defeating Buchanan, Clovis East, Clovis North, Central, and Clovis West twice each and ultimately becoming the 2018 TRAC champions.

“It’s a great accomplishment to go undefeated, but as a team we understand we still have a long road ahead of us,” said senior catcher Jordyn Martinez.

Senior shortstop Tori Mueller added, “We weren’t really surprised that we went 10-0 because we have the talent. As long as we stay playing at our level, we’ll stay winning.”

The Lady Cougars have been led by the masterful pitching of Fresno State bound senior Danielle Lung as well as great offense and defense from seniors Tori Mueller, Ashley Kincaid, Jordyn Martinez, Emily Puente, and others.

CHS will need to continue this hot streak if they want to repeat as champions.

“We expect to kill it and play our best,” said Mueller, “It’s going to take hard work and energy.”

Martinez added, “It’s going to take a lot of fight and focus to get the result that we want.”

The intended result is obviously winning another Valley Championship and the road to the championship begins this week with the Softball Division 1 Playoffs.

As undefeated TRAC champions, Clovis High will enter with an overall record of 27-2 and have received the number one seed in the playoffs, which gets them a first round “bye”.
